Mufflers & Exhaust – We Build Exhaust

Car Exhaust

Car exhaust is not just required to keep you safe from harmful gases and noises – it also directly affects how a modern car runs. If your automobile exhaust isn’t working properly, it can negatively affect you, and your car’s engine performance.

Custom Exhaust, Tailored to You and Your Vehicle

Sometimes your exhaust can be altered to change how your vehicle sounds. A skilled exhaust craftsman knows how to strike the balance between individual preference, vehicle requirements, and government laws.

At Seeburg, we examine your car’s exhaust system for free, and develop a custom quote that fits you and your vehicle. We also perform auto exhaust repairs, especially when it involves exhaust leaks which can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.

Removing your car’s muffler can be done, but you should be aware of your local laws and how they may affect you. All 50 states require a ‘muffler’ of some sort. While you may not be arrested or fined, most states refuse to register your vehicle or license it, if the exhaust does not meet their codes.

Seeburg Service Centers can not and will not remove emissions control devices from your vehicle.. According to U.S. Federal law, and all 50 states, it is illegal to remove emissions devices from vehicles, or alter them.

These laws carry strict punishments for the owner/operator of the vehicles, and for the shop that performed the removal or alteration. These fines could be up to $25,000 per converter.

It’s important to know that when your car triggers a code with the word ‘Catalyst’ or ‘Oxygen Sensor’ it may not require replacement of either. A qualified technician must perform testing on your exhaust and your engine in order to know what is wrong.

Your catalytic converter is designed to filter and burn harmful exhaust byproducts. If your vehicle has other problems causing it to run poorly, the catalyst and/or oxygen sensor(s) may be overwhelmed. This may indicate an actual running problem with your engine and not a catalytic converter failure.

First, you need to know that the fix for catalyst theft will vary from case to case.

  • Some vehicles can accept generic catalytic converters, custom welded into your exhaust.
  • Others require specially made assemblies that must be put together in a factory.
  • Some vehicles require specifically designed converters that work with the computer software in your car to make the car ‘ultra low emissions’ or ‘california emissions’.
  • Thieves often damage other items in the exhaust system, and sometimes, even other, unrelated components, when they steal catalytic converters.

For all these reasons and more, a true exhaust professional will require that your vehicle be present, for a free evaluation, before quoting repairs.

Second, you should always report catalyst theft to the authorities. Your report helps them track trends and locations, and may assist in a plan to capture the thieves. You should also ask your insurance what coverage, if any, there may be for catalyst theft/vandalism.

Third, be careful about offers to fix your exhaust, or create a ‘theft prevention’ that seem too good to be true. There are scams that prey on those who have suffered catalyst theft.

We carry Paradox, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Walker, and an array of generic OEM replacement mufflers and performance exhaust products. We also have the ability to order more assortments or options on short notice. We carry car exhaust piping in sizes from 1.5” to 3” and we are capable of bending those sizes as well.

We may be able to source larger or smaller piping, but we won’t be able to bend those abnormal sizes for you. We also carry an assortment of chrome, stainless, and black chrome tips. If we don’t carry the tip you want in stock, ask if we can get it!
